At the October 21, 2009 meeting of the City Council, the matter of natural gas rates was considered at length. The City Council determined that in the best interest of serving the community and the utility, the rates should be lowered. The effective rate for most users was reduced from $2.60 per therm to $2.20. Also adopted were a "Welcome Rate" and "Low-Income Assistance Program" at $1.95 per therm. Natural Gas Bond Refinance
The long-anticipated sale of natural gas bonds has taken place as of August 25, 2010, with formal completion by September 8, 2010. A full report will be given at the September 1, 2010 City Council meeting.
Building and Planning Department - New Hours of Operation
The building and planning department is now open from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm, effective August 9, 2010. The department will be closed every other Friday, with building and planning services unavailable on those days. For more information regarding the new hours, please call 257-1000, extension 5117.
Fire Department Update
As of July 1, 2010, the Susanville Fire Department will be suspending burn permits within the City of Susanville through November 1, 2010. For more information please call the Susanville Fire Department at 257-5152.
