At the October 21, 2009 meeting of the City Council, the matter of natural gas rates was considered at length. The City Council determined that in the best interest of serving the community and the utility, the rates should be lowered. The effective rate for most users was reduced from $2.60 per therm to $2.20. Also adopted were a "Welcome Rate" and "Low-Income Assistance Program" at $1.95 per therm.
