Our staff wants to help you make informed decisions, know what to expect and fulfill City, State and Federal code requirements which will ultimately ensure your safety and that of others. The City of Susanville requires that you obtain a building permit if you erect, enlarge, alter, repair, move, improve, convert, or demolish a building or structure. This includes not only building construction or remodeling, but also plumbing, mechanical, or electrical modifications. All proposed construction must be in compliance with the current zoning regulations and construction codes. These regulations and codes were established to assure well planned development and to safeguard life or limb, property and public welfare. The City of Susanville has adopted the 2001 California Building Code.
