In conjunction with the City's ongoing efforts to keep the public informed and involved, the City Council adopted a Right-to-Know policy concerning labor negotiations at the May 6 meeting. This policy mirrors pending legislation (SB711) at the State level and is consistent with past City practices.
The policy and status of current labor negotiations can be accessed on the City Council web page.
2009/2010 Budget Process
The City of Susanville began the "Budget Season", with workshops on April 29th and May 20th. The City Council and staff reviewed projections for the 2009/2010 fiscal year and discussed priorities for City resources.
In light of the ongoing struggles by the State of California, the City is taking a very conservative approach to the budget. A balanced budget is scheduled to be presented to the City Council during a continued public hearing at the July 15th meeting.
Support Local Business
As money gets tighter with the ongoing recession, please remember that it is more important than ever to support your local businesses. Local services such as police, fire and streets are dependent on revenue streams such as sales tax. In addition, incredible events and programs such as the Junior Fishing Derby and all of our youth sports programs will perish if local merchants can not afford to be sponsors. If you don't see what you want....ask. You might be surprised at the answer.
